Do you offer a trial period? Yes, we offer all new students a 2-week trial period in which you are welcome to try any of our programs and classes! All you need to do is request a free trial class through our online scheduler or stop by any class 10 minutes early to fill out our general waiver form at the front desk.

Is there a contract for memberships? No, we do not require a contract for memberships. You may cancel your membership at any time with a 30 day notice.

Do you require auto-payments? No, we do not require automatic payments for memberships, although they are highly encouraged as it saves both you and us time! Auto-payments can be turned on and off at will, so you are encouraged to give it a try. Non- auto-payment memberships will be subject to a $5 monthly processing fee.

Can I enroll in memberships online? No, all membership purchases are handled in-house; however, payments towards existing memberships may now be made online through our Zen Planner Member App or Member Portal. If you have not received your login information, please contact the front desk.

What do I need to wear to my first class? Comfortable gym clothes are good for all of the classes to start with. If you or your child are doing a class that requires a GI (BJJ or Karate) there are loaner Gi’s available during your trial period, until you get your own. If you are wearing basketball shorts to BJJ, we recommend wearing compression shorts underneath.

Do you have loaner equipment for use? Yes, we do have some loaner equipment available to new students including gloves, shin guards, and headgear. For contact classes just at MMA or BJJ, a mouthguard and cup are always recommended. In MMA, you may not spar without a mouthguard.

Is my child required to wear a Karate uniform? We understand many kids do not like wearing a full karate Gi during class. However, it is a requirement to wear Tokyo Joe’s or Team Link clothing, including a GI or a Karate t-shirt with Karate shorts or Gi bottoms. These are available for purchase in our pro-shop. Your rank belt is always required. Please note, on Graduation day all students must be in their full Gi in order to be promoted.

Is a uniform included in my membership? For Karate memberships, a Gi is included upon enrollment, which includes your white belt. For BJJ, your Gi is not included in your membership. Loaner Gi’s are available during your trial period. Gi’s are available for purchase through our pro-shop. If you purchase a Gi on your own, Tokyo Joe’s and Team Link patches are required and also available at the front desk. For BJJ, blue and white Gi’s are acceptable, and black Gi’s are acceptable from purple belt and above.

I am coming from another school or have taken some time off, do I need to start over in rank? Typically, you are able to keep your rank depending on the style and amount of time off. We assess this on a case-by-case basis.

I am a new student, are there only certain classes I can attend? All of our classes are open classes, which you are welcome to attend. However, for BJJ a great class to start in is our BJJ Fundamentals class. Kids karate classes will vary in difficulty of workouts, although material covered will be adjusted to students in class. Tokyo Joe’s and Team Link always accommodate new students and make them feel welcome. If necessary, instructors or more experienced students will work with new students on an individual basis to cover basic material. Private lessons are available.

Do you have a drop-in fee for non-members? Yes, this is $10 per day. This fee may be paid through our website or at the front desk.
